Church Covenant
of the First Baptist Church of Cranford/Elizabeth

We believe in the loving presence of God in our lives and will seek to worship God in spirit and in truth.
We accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God, our Savior, the Lord and center of what we think, feel, and do, and have followed Him in baptism.

We believe that the Holy Spirit works in us and through us to comfort, guide, convict, challenge, and sustain us as we seek to become more and more like Christ.

We believe that this fellowship lives to show God’s love and concern for the world and to advance God’s kingdom by seeking the salvation of others.

We believe that the family is a group of persons which anchors our lives by sharing our joys and sorrows.
We also believe that we are members of God’s family through our faith in Jesus Christ. From God’s family we draw our spiritual strength and guidance.

We recognize the need to accept each other even though we may have varied thoughts and convictions about how God expresses love.

We promise our support and love to each other in the fellowship as we grow in grace and knowledge of our Savior.

We further recognize the need for each of us to grow in Christian faith, and our responsibility to help others develop a Christian faith of their own.

We pledge to continue to grow in our faith by taking part regularly in worship and Communion with this fellowship. We also encourage participation in Christian Education, Bible study, prayer, meditation, service in our community and world, proportionate giving of our time and money, and cooperation with other Christian organizations.
We believe that we are led by the Holy Spirit, and we covenant, as individuals and as a Church, to initiate and support community, national, and worldwide efforts to nurture love and to establish justice and human dignity for all.
